European stablecoin issuer Qivalis sees transformation of global trade finance

Summary

Qivalis CEO Jan-Oliver Sell says stablecoins are changing trade finance by enabling cross-border payments and collateral transfers in minutes, sometimes without converting to fiat. He reports growing interest in Asia, Latin America and Africa, and says on-chain payments fill a gap left by earlier blockchain trade initiatives focused on paperwork. Qivalis has grown to about 40 employees, onboarded 37 European banks, and is nearing a Dutch EMI license, aiming to launch a regulated euro stablecoin by year-end. Sell expects a multi-currency stablecoin market and argues Europe’s MiCA framework may give European projects a head start over U.S. bank-backed efforts.
