Fake FBI Crypto Tokens Are Being Used to Threaten Tron Users, Authorities Warn
The FBI has warned of a scam on the Tron blockchain involving fake tokens impersonating the FBI. These tokens display messages alleging recipients’ wallets are under investigation and demand personal information for anti-money laundering compliance via a fraudulent website. The scam threatens to block users’ assets if they do not comply. The FBI advises Tron users to ignore such tokens and never share personal details with associated websites. The fraudulent site tries to pressure victims by claiming that only immediate action can avoid sanctions, a tactic often used in crypto scams. Tron is known for illicit financial activity, making users especially vulnerable. The FBI did not create or send these tokens. The token in question appeared about eight days ago, is held in 728 wallets, and some wallets contain over $1 million in USDT. Separately, the FBI has previously used its own Ethereum token in a sting operation, but it is unrelated to this scam.
