Galaxy Puts Its Name on Texas Tech's Stadium in a 15-Year, Crypto-Native Deal
Starting in the 2026 season, Texas Tech’s football stadium will be renamed Galaxy Stadium under a 15-year naming-rights deal with Galaxy Digital worth more than $70 million. Galaxy also becomes Texas Tech Athletics’ official data center and digital assets partner, with branding across football and basketball and NIL-related activations for athletes. The move comes as Texas Tech enters a strong moment after winning the Big 12 and reaching the College Football Playoff. Galaxy is using the deal to boost visibility while it shifts beyond crypto trading toward AI and high-performance data centers, including its large Helios campus in Dickens County. The strategy reflects a broader trend of crypto-linked firms seeking infrastructure roles in the AI boom. Still, the partnership carries risk: Galaxy has faced losses and stock volatility, and its West Texas data-center expansion may face scrutiny over water use and grid pressure.
