Hana Bank leverages Euroclear blockchain for $100M T+0 digital bond issuance

Summary

Hana Bank issued a $100 million digital bond through Euroclear’s blockchain settlement platform, completing allocation and payment on the same day rather than the usual three to five business days. The transaction was the first direct use of Euroclear’s distributed-ledger infrastructure by a South Korean financial institution. Investors could access the bond through existing Euroclear accounts. The deal comes as South Korea prepares a full tokenized-securities framework scheduled to launch in February 2027. Standard Chartered was the sole lead manager.
