Japanese game developer launches Bitcoin, altcoin fund with SBI

Summary

Gumi will launch a 3 billion yen crypto asset fund with SBI Financial Services and backing from Daiwa Securities Group and other investors. The fund, run through SBI Crypto Fund, is jointly owned by SBI Financial Services and Gumi subsidiary gC Labs. It will focus mainly on Bitcoin and major altcoins, using staking, rebalancing, and hedging. Gumi says the goal is to connect Japanese corporates with the crypto market and build a track record ahead of a possible future approval of crypto ETFs in Japan. The launch extends Gumi’s broader crypto expansion, which already includes crypto holdings centered on XRP, portfolio services, and investment funds. Gumi’s crypto assets on its balance sheet rose to 14.13 billion yen as of April 30, 2026, nearly double the prior year’s level.
