Kalshi’s 15-min gold markets overtake Ether just weeks after launch
Summary
Kalshi’s 15-minute gold markets generated an estimated $5 million in trading fees in September, nearly twice Ether’s $2.6 million, while Bitcoin led with $60.4 million. Gold also overtook Ether in contract volume, recording 542 million contracts versus Ether’s 318 million. Kalshi said its commodities trading volume reached $400 million within seven months, more than four times crypto markets’ volume at the same point. Short-duration financial markets are becoming an important revenue source: an analysis found they generated $20.4 million in fees over a week, 80% of Kalshi’s non-sports fees, despite representing 13% of trading volume.
