ADA news: Cardano gives token issuers power to freeze, seize and restrict assets

Summary

Cardano’s CIP-0113 token standard is live after independent security audits, enabling issuers of stablecoins, funds and bonds to set transfer rules, block sanctioned or unverified recipients, and freeze or seize tokens when required. Rules are enforced through a shared smart contract on every transfer; issuers can use preset policies or create and update their own. The standard required no hard fork, and several Cardano wallets and tools support its launch. Its controls may also allow authorized parties to move tokens without holders’ consent, a risk lenders are advised to assess before accepting them as collateral. Comparable features exist on Ethereum, Solana and XRP Ledger.
