Ethereum has a 25-day wait to start staking, with nearly 1.5 million ETH in line
Summary
Ethereum’s staking exit queue surged from about 166,000 ETH on Sept. 29 to 851,000 ETH on Oct. 2 after MetaMask began precautionarily shutting down validators following a security incident. Roughly 786,000 ETH, worth more than $2 billion, remained queued, with an estimated wait of nearly 14 days. MetaMask said its investigation found no evidence that customer wallets or funds were affected. Most exiting ETH is linked to validators operated by MetaMask for Lido; Lido expects the coins to return to staking gradually, a process that could take up to 45 days. Separately, about 1.5 million ETH was waiting to enter staking.
