Zcash activates NU7 on testnet ahead of November mainnet target
Summary
Zcash activated its NU7 upgrade on testnet at block 4,465,026 on Oct. 4, beginning live testing ahead of a planned Nov. 5 mainnet rollout. NU7 would shorten target block spacing from 75 to 25 seconds, disable version 4 transactions and direct some transaction fees toward future block rewards. ZEC remaining in the legacy Sprout shielded pool could become unspendable unless moved before the upgrade. Developers are due to decide on mainnet activation and set its block height on Oct. 20, informed by testnet results.
