Metaplanet to take 93.7% stake in Super League through 2,100 BTC deal
Super League shareholders approved a transaction that would give Japan’s Metaplanet a 93.7% stake and establish a US-listed Bitcoin treasury company. Metaplanet will contribute 2,100 BTC and $2.5 million, while receiving shares, governance rights and warrants. The company plans to rebrand as Superplanet and trade under the ticker SUPA, focusing on growing Bitcoin holdings per share. It expects to fund further purchases mainly through preferred stock rather than debt, with Metaplanet able to invest up to $210 million in junior preferred shares. The deal would give Metaplanet access to US-dollar financing alongside its yen-based funding in Japan. Metaplanet holds 44,000 BTC, making it the second-largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder, according to the report.
