Why Some of America’s Biggest Companies Are Objecting to Tokenized Shares
Nine companies, including Verizon, Broadcom and UnitedHealth Group, objected to having their shares offered on OKXICE TSV, a planned tokenized-stock venue from OKX and Intercontinental Exchange. Their reasons and the effect of the objections remain unclear. Nasdaq has also said it would opt its own shares out, citing concerns that the venue lacks real-time best-price information and consolidated-tape trade reporting. The platform is designed to operate around the clock on OKX’s XLayer blockchain, using Uniswap v4 liquidity pools and stablecoin settlement. Third-party tokenizers would hold underlying shares, while token holders are expected to receive dividends and voting rights. The venue would not be SEC-registered or subject to key market protections, and trading would be volume-capped.
