Near Intents Hacked for $3.8M Days After Denying North Korea-Linked Bitget Hacker

Summary

Near Intents halted service after an attacker drained about $3.8 million from its cross-chain swap system. The team said a bug in the interaction between its Omni deposit/withdrawal layer and the main smart contract exposed user funds. It reported the incident to law enforcement and said it is tracing the stolen assets with security and blockchain analytics partners. The contract flaw has been patched, and core service is expected to resume within about an hour, but deposits and withdrawals on 11 networks remain offline for roughly 12 more hours while fixes are completed. Near Intents said the lost funds will be fully reimbursed. The attack came shortly after Near Intents blocked a $50 million swap tied to the Bitget hack. The platform has processed more than $30 billion in swaps across 35 blockchains, and the incident sent NEAR and Bitwise’s NEAR ETF lower.
