OKX Shield Offers Up To €500K Account-Takeover Protection In Europe
OKX has launched OKX Shield in Europe, a security-linked reimbursement program for account-takeover losses. To be eligible, users must complete a six-step hardening checklist that includes tools like passkeys, multi-factor authentication, and withdrawal protections. Users who meet the requirements may receive discretionary reimbursement if a qualifying third party takes over the account. Coverage is tiered by account level: standard users may be considered for up to €100,000, VIP 1–3 users up to €250,000, and VIP 4–6 users up to €500,000. The design is intended to incentivize stronger security settings by tying them to financial protection. OKX stresses that Shield is not deposit insurance, investor compensation, or a statutory guarantee. It is a voluntary goodwill program, and any reimbursement is discretionary under its terms.
