Why Is Chipotle Now Working With the CIA-Funded Palantir?
Chipotle is piloting a Palantir-built “Food Safety Risk Management Platform” using Palantir’s Foundry software to centralize food-safety data and assign each restaurant a risk score. The system reportedly combines health inspection scores, pest sightings, and employee illness reports into a dashboard used by headquarters. Chipotle says the tool is meant to provide a more consistent view of risk, but has not said when it will launch, how many stores use it, or whether customers or workers will see the scores. Palantir was founded with early CIA-linked funding and still earns much of its revenue from government contracts, including defense and immigration work. The partnership raises privacy concerns because employee illness records may be fed into a company known for data analysis used by intelligence and law-enforcement agencies.
