OKX Tightens European Institutional Trading Guidance Under MiCA
OKX is updating its European operating model to align with MiCA, with new guidance focused on institutional users trading fiat and stablecoin pairs in the EEA. The main shift is that crypto regulation is now affecting product access directly through account settings, eligibility rules, and asset availability rather than just broad compliance statements. Institutional users may face different thresholds, trading permissions, or market access depending on jurisdiction, account type, legal entity, and the regulatory status of the asset involved. A pair may still exist on the platform overall but be restricted for certain European customers. The broader trend is that EU crypto compliance is becoming more granular. Exchanges must now make product-level decisions about what can be offered, to whom, and under which rules. For institutions, region-specific access and controls are becoming normal as MiCA enforcement matures.
