Paraguay deports three undocumented immigrants after crypto mining theft attempt
Paraguayan law enforcement deported three Chinese nationals and arrested one individual for attempting to steal crypto miners at Teratech SA’s facility near the Itaipu hydroelectric dam. The suspects were apprehended shortly after breaking into a secured area of the facility. The deported individuals, Jinping Duan, Tian Jianyun, and Zheng Guanglong, lacked official entry records and are believed to have entered Paraguay illegally via Brazil or Bolivia. Nahun María Velázquez Garcete, a legal resident, faces charges of aggravated theft and is in pretrial detention after being hospitalized in critical condition post-arrest. Investigations suggest the deportees may have worked illegally in Paraguay for months as programmers. Authorities are awaiting a report from Teratech’s CEO to clarify the relationship with the deported individuals.
