Tokenization makes investing more accessible — Robinhood exec

Summary

Tokenization may enhance financial inclusion for retail investors by providing access to traditionally restricted asset classes like real estate and private equity, which currently require accredited investor status. Johann Kerbrat from Robinhood Crypto emphasized that fractional ownership through tokenization can make these assets more accessible. Robinhood, along with firms like BlackRock and Franklin Templeton, is exploring real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, which has a current market capitalization of $22.5 billion among 101,457 holders. Kerbrat also predicted an increase in specialized stablecoins, moving beyond the dominance of dollar-pegged options like Tether's USDt and Circle's USDC, which together account for 87.1% of the stablecoin market. There is a growing demand for non-dollar-pegged stablecoins, reflecting a shift towards platforms managing various stablecoins for specific markets.
