Polygon’s 8 million USDT0 holders face scrutiny as 58% of growth matches scam patterns
Summary
Bitquery estimates that 998,000 of 1.71 million addresses added to Polygon’s USDT0 holder count since August 2025 show patterns associated with address-poisoning scams. It also found that many addresses hold less than a cent or have been inactive for a year. Over the period, USDT0 supply on Polygon fell 41% to about $798 million, and addresses holding at least $10 fell 42%. Bitquery says its classifications are probabilistic and do not measure scam losses. The findings complicate Polygon’s claim of more than 8.1 million USDT0 holders as it promotes the network for stablecoin payments. Polygon’s overall stablecoin activity remains substantial, but the data does not establish whether genuine USDT0 payment volumes have declined.
