Reddit avatar NFT holders concerned for project as lead exits
Concerns have arisen among holders of Reddit Collectible Avatars (NFTs) following the departure of Bianca Wyler, the project's head. Wyler announced her exit from Reddit on LinkedIn, expressing pride in her work. Some users noted deleted comments from her account and speculated that her exit might signal a potential discontinuation of the avatars. Reddit Collectible Avatars, launched in July 2022, consist of unique NFTs on the Polygon blockchain, primarily featuring Reddit's alien mascot. Users can utilize these avatars for profile customization and receive perks like enhanced comment visibility. Despite over 33.5 million NFT holders, sales have declined since late 2022, with recent monthly secondary sales around $100,000. Wyler indicated that the RCA program required strategic attention and had seen improvements during her tenure. She acknowledged her departure as part of natural shifts in social media companies. Reddit has not commented on the situation.
