Senator Lummis still pushing for CLARITY vote before August recess

Senator Cynthia Lummis said she expects the Senate to vote before recess, but the bill still lacks clear support and needs 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. Democrats remain divided, with many pushing for stronger ethics rules tied to President Trump’s crypto investments. A Republican concern also remains: Senator Josh Hawley is reportedly withholding support until banking-related issues are addressed. Senate Majority Leader John Thune may still try to schedule a vote before Saturday, but if that does not happen, consideration will likely slip to mid-September, closer to the 2026 midterms.
