Swiss bank BancaStato launches regulated crypto trading with Sygnum
Swiss cantonal bank BancaStato has launched regulated crypto trading for customers through its existing web and mobile banking apps. Using Sygnum’s B2B platform and Avaloq banking software, customers can buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin, and Solana without using a separate crypto service or order management system. The integration links Sygnum’s API directly into Avaloq’s core banking setup, reducing operational complexity and making future feature expansion easier. BancaStato is the first bank using Avaloq’s software-as-a-service platform to offer crypto trading, and it joins more than 25 financial institutions on Sygnum’s B2B network. Sygnum says its recent MiCA-related license in Liechtenstein helps European partner banks access regulated crypto infrastructure more quickly, while banks remain responsible for their own regulatory setup.
