White hats recover 52 Bitcoin from Coldcard exploit, and a new public portal lets victims check eligibility
A Bitcoin transaction in block 967,948 publicly links about 52.37 BTC from Coldcard-related wallet clusters to Crypto Recovery Trust, giving owners a way to check whether their addresses may qualify for recovery. Claims require verification, and returns may be affected by sanctions or competing claims. Galaxy researcher Alex Thorn also identified 3.0134 BTC from untracked addresses as possible additional recoveries, though their Coldcard origin is uncertain. DART previously said it and independent researchers had secured just over 50 BTC. The report concerns an entropy flaw affecting some older Coldcard wallet seeds; updating firmware does not remove exposure from an existing seed. Owners are warned never to share seed phrases or private keys for an address check.
