White House vows to get CLARITY across ‘finish line’ in September
The Trump administration is still pushing for passage of the CLARITY Act in September, despite the Senate delaying action until after its August recess. White House crypto policy chief Patrick Witt said the administration will keep negotiating with Democrats up to the September vote and cannot wait indefinitely. The Senate is expected to take a cloture vote in mid-September, which would require 60 votes to move the bill forward. CLARITY would create a federal framework for digital assets, including how tokens are classified under securities or commodities law and how trading platforms are regulated. Key issues remain unresolved, including Democratic demands for stronger ethics rules tied to Trump-linked crypto interests and banking-industry objections to stablecoin reward provisions.
