'Pacman' Gobbled NFT Sales With Blur
Summary
In April 2022, OpenSea led the NFT marketplace holding 75% share. However, due to the shift in NFT trends, OpenSea's dominance lessened to 20% by 2023. A marketplace called Blur, prioritizing high-volume traders, usurped OpenSea's dominance by offering robust analytics for investors and issuing a token (BLUR) to incentivize activity. By February 2023, Blur took over OpenSea's market share. The founder of Blur, initially anonymous Pacman, later revealed to be Tieshun Roquerre, a young software engineer. Although OpenSea remains popular among new and art-focused NFT users, Blur maintains its stronghold with 76% of trading volume.
