XRP Ledger retries upgrade that lets banks split payment and compliance duties
XRP Ledger’s PermissionDelegationV1_1 upgrade entered a 14-day activation countdown on Sept. 21 after receiving support from 29 of 35 trusted validators. It could activate Oct. 5 if support stays at or above 80%; falling below 28 validators resets the clock. The feature would let accounts delegate limited tasks—such as payments or customer approvals—without sharing keys or granting control over other account functions. Delegates can receive up to 10 permissions, which the account owner can change or revoke. This is the feature’s second attempt: the original version was rejected after a tester found a flaw that could charge fees for transactions with invalid signatures. The replacement, included in xrpld 3.3.0, verifies signatures before charging fees.
