Zcash targets July 28 launch for Ironwood network upgrade
Zcash’s Ironwood network upgrade is scheduled to activate on July 28 at block height 3,428,143, about a week later than the earlier July 21 target. Ironwood is meant to fix the “infinity” bug found in May in Orchard, Zcash’s main shielded transaction pool. The upgrade will close Orchard to new activity and move private funds into a new pool through an accounting checkpoint that could reveal whether any counterfeit ZEC was created through the bug. Core developers say major ecosystem groups are committed to the launch. Shielded Labs had warned that a delay might be needed for exchanges, mining pools, and wallets to prepare. ZEC fell sharply after the bug disclosure but has since partially recovered. More than 80% of Zcash’s 21 million coin supply has now been issued.
