Binance Nigeria Money Laundering Trial Delayed to May 17, Gambaryan Family Spokesperson
Binance Nigeria's money laundering trial has been postponed to May 17 due to the company's lawyer not receiving necessary evidence in time. The evidence, which is 300 pages long, was served in court and the judge allowed more time for its review. Tigran Gambaryan, a U.S. citizen and Binance's head of financial compliance, was detained in Nigeria in February along with Nadeem Anjarwalla, the British-Kenyan regional manager for Africa. They were charged with anti-money laundering and tax evasion by Nigerian authorities. Anjarwalla has since escaped and is being sought by Nigerian authorities. Gambaryan is currently in Kuje prison awaiting his bail hearing, which is scheduled for the same day as the tax evasion trial. The tax evasion trial was also delayed in April due to the exchange not being formally served with charges.
