Bitcoin Wallet Maker BitBox Says AI Found Severe Flaws in Firmware

Summary

BitBox released the Dixence security update after finding three firmware flaws in the BitBox02. The most serious bootloader bug could have let a phisher trick a user into installing fake BitBoxApp software, unlocking the device, and then loading malicious firmware onto a genuine wallet to steal funds. A second severe bug affected the Multi edition before initial setup and could enable arbitrary code execution and firmware compromise when paired with a hostile computer. A third issue involved silent payments and could misdirect funds, but not steal them directly. All three are fixed in v9.26.5. BitBox says there are no reports of stolen user funds, and the BitBox02 Nova was not affected by the bootloader issue.
