Bitwise launches self-custodied tokenized stock portfolios with Coinbase

Summary

Bitwise Asset Management launched automated portfolios built from Coinbase’s tokenized U.S. stocks for eligible investors outside the U.S. The portfolios use Coinbase’s tokenized equities, while Glider automatically rebalances holdings to match Bitwise-designed model strategies. Initial strategies include Mag7X, robotics, and AI leaders, with names such as Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, Tesla, and SpaceX. Unlike a traditional fund, the tokens stay in users’ non-custodial wallets. Bitwise sets the portfolio methodology, Glider handles trading and rebalancing, and Bitwise charges a 0.15% methodology access fee, excluding trading and platform costs. Bitwise said users may also use the assets in DeFi for lending or borrowing, though that carries protocol risk. The launch follows Coinbase’s rollout of tokenized U.S. stocks on Base for eligible non-U.S. users. Tokenized listed stocks now total $2.49 billion in market value, with 2.25 million holders.
