BNY Expands Regulated Crypto Custody Across The European Union Under MiCA

Summary

BNY is expanding its Digital Asset Custody platform to selected institutional clients in the EU after its European banking entity was added to the MiCA register. The registration enables it to provide crypto custody, administration and transfer services to eligible clients under a common EU framework. BNY, which reported $62.6 trillion in assets under custody or administration at June-end, launched the platform in 2022. Its European rollout gives institutions access to regulated digital-asset services through an established global custodian and intensifies competition for crypto-native custody firms.
