Ethereum Blockchain Counts Down to 'Dencun' Upgrade, Set to Reduce Fees

Ethereum's Dencun upgrade, a hard fork, will bring cheaper fees for layer-2 networks by activating EIP-4844, proto-danksharding. The upgrade was delayed due to engineering concerns but has been tested successfully. It will benefit layer-2 networks like Arbitrum, Optimism, and Polygon by allowing them to post data to Ethereum more efficiently. Proto-danksharding will also benefit data availability layers and is expected to reduce gas fees for L2 networks.
