Ethereum sets October 26 for Hoodi’s 200 million gas test
Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade is scheduled for the Hoodi testnet on Oct. 26, 2026, following its Oct. 6 Sepolia activation. Mainnet timing is undecided, and the Hoodi rollout requires no action from ETH holders or mainnet operators. Hoodi node operators and validators must install compatible execution and consensus client releases before activation and check validator duties, builder tooling and gas settings. The upgrade targets 200 million gas per block, but this is a planned budget, not an immediate enforced ceiling. Glamsterdam introduces protocol-level proposer-builder separation and block-level access lists intended to let clients perform more work in parallel. Developers are advised to test contracts and gas estimation because changed gas pricing may affect assumptions in existing code.
