Hashdex to shut smallest Bitcoin ETF after more than two years
Summary
Hashdex will liquidate its spot Bitcoin ETF this month, selling about 225 BTC and distributing cash to remaining shareholders. The firm said the move followed a review of trading liquidity, operating costs, and investor demand. The fund, trading on NYSE Arca under DEFI since March 2024, has about 200,000 shares and $14.25 million in net assets. It entered a crowded U.S. Bitcoin ETF market after several competitors had already launched. The product began in 2022 as a Bitcoin futures ETF, and its peak assets were $17.54 million in May 2025.
