Macron Calls Surprise French Election That's Unlikely to Stir Crypto, Is Likely to Shake Up Government
Emmanuel Macron, the French President, has dissolved parliament and called for a snap election after his party, Renaissance, won fewer seats than Marine Le Pen's National Rally in the European Parliament elections. The voting is scheduled for June 30 and July 7. Despite the political changes, the country's progress in the crypto industry is expected to continue. France registered 74 crypto companies in the previous year and is aiming to increase this number to 100. The European Union (EU) has recently passed the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) legislation, allowing crypto companies to operate across the EU if they secure a license in any member nation. This legislation will take effect for stablecoin issuers on June 30 and will be fully active by the end of the year.
