Metaplanet Unit Secures ¥9.66B Financing As Bitcoin Treasury Plan Expands
Metaplanet is expanding its Bitcoin treasury strategy through a subsidiary-level financing deal tied to Bitcoin Japan. Bitcoin Japan signed an agreement with EVO Fund for up to ¥9.66 billion ($59.5 million) via zero-coupon convertible bonds and stock acquisition rights. Only ¥662 million ($4 million) is earmarked for immediate Bitcoin purchases; most of the facility is intended for broader private equity and operational expansion. The key point is that the full financing amount is not being deployed into BTC right away. The deal shows Metaplanet’s approach is becoming more structured, using flexible capital-market tools rather than only spot Bitcoin buys. It also highlights the tradeoff between Bitcoin accumulation and potential dilution from convertible financing. Overall, Metaplanet remains one of Asia’s most visible Bitcoin treasury companies, and the deal reinforces Japan’s growing role in the corporate BTC treasury trend. The main watchpoint is how quickly the initial Bitcoin allocation is executed and whether the BTC portion grows later.
