Mt. Gox pushes creditor repayment deadline to 2027 in sixth extension
Summary
Mt. Gox’s rehabilitation trustee said the Tokyo District Court approved extending the deadline for base, early lump-sum and intermediate creditor repayments by one year, to Oct. 31, 2027. The extension follows earlier delays. Repayments began in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash in July 2024, and more than 19,500 creditors had been paid by March 2025. The trustee said many claims remain unpaid because creditors have not completed procedures or payments encountered problems, but did not disclose the number of outstanding creditors or the Bitcoin still to be distributed. Wallets attributed to Mt. Gox hold about 34,400 BTC, valued at roughly $2.8 billion.
