NYSE, Blockchain.com in tie-up to bring tokenized US stocks to crypto users
Blockchain.com and the NYSE signed a memorandum of understanding to let Blockchain.com users access tokenized US-listed stocks and ETFs through NYSE’s planned digital trading platform, pending regulatory approval. Blockchain.com would distribute tokenized equities traded on NYSE’s digital ATS, while NYSE affiliate ICE Data Services and Blockchain.com would also exchange selected market data and analytics. The move reflects a broader push by major exchanges and crypto platforms into tokenized equities, with 24/7 trading and faster settlement positioned as key advantages, especially for retail and weekend trading. The market for tokenized stocks is growing quickly, reaching $3.14 billion in value and 3.87 million holders. The announcement comes shortly after the SEC proposed a five-year “Innovation Exemption” for certain tokenized securities venues, allowing some tokenized trading models if they preserve shareholder rights equivalent to traditional stocks.
