Reform UK chair calls for probe into SBF-linked donation: Report
UK Reform chair Lee Anderson has urged a standards probe into Labour’s Wes Streeting after reports that a think tank linked to former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried funneled about $50,000 to him in 2022–23. Streeting reportedly asked for the donor list before accepting the money, and Bankman-Fried’s name was not included. David Lawrence, who founded Labour for the Long Term, said the funds came from another donor and not from Bankman-Fried or the FTX Foundation. The report comes as Reform leader Nigel Farage faces a by-election after resigning from parliament amid his own crypto-linked donation controversy. UK rules allow unincorporated associations to donate large sums, creating a potential route for foreign or opaque money. Meanwhile, a US appeals court has formally upheld Bankman-Fried’s conviction and 25-year sentence, leaving only limited avenues for further appeal.
