Strategy's Bitcoin Pile Nears June Record After $76M Purchase
Strategy bought 950 BTC for $75.7 million in the week ended Sept. 20, at an average price of $79,670 per coin including fees. Its holdings rose to 846,000 BTC, worth about $63.8 billion at an average cost of $75,416 per coin, leaving it just 1,363 BTC below its prior record high. The company has added 5,553 BTC since mid-August, recovering from a summer low of 840,447 BTC. Its latest BTC purchase cost was above both the price of BTC it sold in August and its blended cost basis. Strategy also spent $174.0 million repurchasing 1.77 million STRC preferred shares. Both actions were funded from its USD Cash pool, which fell to $1.05 billion from $1.30 billion. No shares were sold under its ATM program during the week, and its USD Reserve decreased to $5.04 billion.
