Taiwan plans Travel Rule for domestic crypto transfers from October

Summary

Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission plans to require crypto platforms to share customer information on all domestic transfers between virtual asset service providers starting in October, applying the FATF Travel Rule regardless of transaction size. Transfers above NT$30,000 will face stricter requirements, including additional sender details such as date of birth and address for individuals, or official ID and registered address for companies. Receiving platforms must verify beneficiary information against their records. Taiwan also plans to extend the rule to cross-border VASP transfers by the end of 2027. The proposal will enter a 30-day public consultation.
