Tether signs tokenization deal with Nairobi Securities Exchange

Summary

Tether and the Nairobi Securities Exchange signed an MOU to explore tokenized securities, blockchain-based market infrastructure, and the possible use of USDt (USDT) as a settlement layer. The agreement covers digital asset education, real-world asset tokenization, and potential use of Tether’s Hadron platform to issue and trade tokenized securities. It also includes assessing instant settlement systems and whether USDT could serve as a digital settlement infrastructure layer under Kenyan regulations. The move aligns with broader growth in tokenized RWAs, whose onchain value has risen to about $36.8 billion excluding stablecoins. USDT remains the largest stablecoin, with a market cap of roughly $184 billion.
