Treasury holds $1 trillion as Bitcoin faces a key liquidity test this week
Treasury’s Nov. 2 borrowing estimate and Nov. 4 financing plans will clarify whether its roughly $1.016 trillion cash balance could decline by year-end and return reserves to the banking system. The potential liquidity boost depends on the revised cash target, debt issuance mix, buybacks, receipts and payments; a drawdown alone does not guarantee easier funding. Bank reserves had fallen by $69 billion in the latest weekly-average comparison, while Bitcoin traded near $77,865. Treasury borrowing, Federal Reserve balance-sheet changes and other deposits also affect reserves. Any benefit to Bitcoin remains a hypothesis: evidence would include an actual TGA decline, stabilizing reserves and calmer repo markets, alongside sustained investment-product inflows and spot buying.
