Why Ripple’s $16 trillion payment volume isn’t boosting XRP

Summary

Ripple’s growing partnerships and product launches do not automatically benefit XRP holders: customers can use Ripple’s software, custody services, or RLUSD stablecoin without buying significant amounts of XRP. XRP is required for XRPL transaction fees and account reserves, and can serve as a bridge asset, but fees are small and tokens can be reused. Announcements from BNY, Robinhood, Coinbase, DriveWealth and others expand access or stablecoin use, yet provide no figures on XRP routed or balances held. Ripple’s broad revenue and payment-volume claims therefore cannot establish token demand. Investors receive no claim on Ripple’s profits, and assessing whether adoption lifts XRP demand requires data on XRP-specific activity and the inventory providers must maintain.
