Why XRP’s 63 billion circulating tokens don’t tell buyers what’s for sale
Summary
XRP’s circulating supply and exchange-held balances do not show how many tokens buyers can actually purchase. An Oct. 8 snapshot put circulating supply at about 63.09 billion XRP and exchange-attributed holdings at 21.97 billion, while sell-side depth on two trading pairs was only a few million dollars within 2% of market price. Other figures—including escrow, ETF custody, wrapped-token reserves and dormant holdings—use different dates and definitions, overlap, or do not indicate current sale availability. A reliable estimate of buyable XRP would require a price limit, time window, broad coverage of executable offers, and reconciliation to avoid counting coins twice.
