Bitcoin Could Overtake Gold in the Next Bull Run: Binance Founder CZ
Changpeng Zhao said Bitcoin will likely overtake gold in importance, possibly during the next bull run. He argued the main barrier is institutional, not technical: large countries already have systems for holding gold, and shifting to Bitcoin will take time. He noted the Bitcoin-to-gold market value gap has narrowed to about 10x and said Bitcoin is a better asset than gold. He said he advises governments to build crypto reserves by excluding stablecoins and weighting the five largest remaining cryptocurrencies by market cap, which would give Bitcoin the largest share. Zhao also expects AI agents to use crypto first through stablecoins, then Bitcoin, and said he has discussed token-based fundraising models with major AI firms facing massive compute costs. He added that AI will likely transform trading before payments. Zhao said Bitcoin could reach $1 million and called for much broader utility, especially payments and retirement reserves.
