Crypto Firms Launch Quantum Alliance as 6 Million Bitcoin Sit Exposed
Nine crypto organizations launched the Quantum Alliance, an open standards body to define and test blockchain quantum-resistance claims and coordinate migrations to post-quantum cryptography. Its working groups will cover blockchain migration, zero-knowledge systems, wallet security and cross-chain compatibility. The effort addresses the lack of shared criteria for “quantum-ready” networks. The article says quantum computers could eventually threaten elliptic-curve signatures, exposing funds and privileged keys; the Alliance estimates about 6.04 million BTC are quantum-exposed. No machine can currently break the cryptography, but forecasts cited point to possible risk later this decade. The initiative joins other industry efforts, including calls to begin Bitcoin migration planning and a separate $15 million consortium commitment.
