Polygon Creates New Grants Program, 1B POL Unlocked Over 10 Years
Polygon, a Layer-2 network, has launched a Community Grants Program to incentivize developers to build within its ecosystem. The program plans to distribute 1 billion of Polygon's soon-to-be-rebranded MATIC tokens (POL) to developers over the next decade. The program began with 35 million tokens, worth $23 million, available for distribution. The tokens will be sourced from Polygon’s Community Treasury, with an estimated 100 million POL tokens to be distributed annually. Developers can participate in two tracks: the "General Grant Track" for general building on Polygon, and the "Consumer Crypto Track" for projects promoting crypto adoption, including gaming, decentralized social applications, AI and blockchain integrations, and NFT innovations.
