Worldcoin’s WLD Jumps 8% on Grayscale ETF Filing
Worldcoin’s WLD token rose about 8% after Grayscale filed for a U.S. spot ETF tied to the biometric crypto project. The proposed Grayscale Worldcoin ETF would be a passive fund holding WLD and tracking its price via the CoinDesk Worldcoin Benchmark Rate. If approved, it would list on Nasdaq under ticker GWLD and could launch under commodity trust listing standards once WLD meets eligibility requirements. BitGo Bank & Trust would custody the tokens, and BNY Mellon would handle transfer and administration. Worldcoin, now branded World, was co-founded by Sam Altman and uses iris-scanning Orbs to issue a World ID and distribute WLD to verified users. The project faces regulatory scrutiny over biometric data. The filing marks growing institutional interest in WLD and is part of Grayscale’s broader expansion into crypto ETFs. The fund cannot trade until the filing takes effect and listing conditions are met.
