World Foundation Raises $52.5M to Scale Sam Altman’s ‘Proof of Human’ ID
World Foundation raised $52.5 million to expand World ID, its “proof of human” system, as demand for verifying real people grows with the rise of AI agents. The round was led by Pantera Capital and included Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto; all purchased WLD tokens are locked for 12 months. The funds will support adoption among organizations, consumers, and AI agents, while World rolls out integrations with platforms such as Zoom, Docusign, Okta, Vercel, and Tinder, plus an enterprise version, World ID 4.0. World says 39 million people have joined, 18 million have completed Orb verification, and 475 million ID proofs have been processed. The project continues to face privacy and regulatory backlash over iris-scan biometric data, but institutional interest remains strong, with more treasury and ETF-related activity emerging.
